Why Aviation Fieldbook exists

A student-led guide with clear limits

Fieldbook is being developed by a Canadian high-school student researching aviation pathways. That perspective helps identify questions students actually ask. It does not make the founder an aviation authority. A public founder name and project contact are still being set up. Licensing, medical, admissions and hiring decisions belong to the responsible organizations.

The working name is provisional. There is no nonprofit incorporation, advisory board, sponsor list or claimed school partnership. The project is separate from Harbourview.

How a claim gets onto this site

1. Identify the decision: write the question a student or parent is trying to answer.
2. Find the responsible source: Transport Canada for licensing; NAV CANADA for its selection; an award organizer for its criteria; a provider for its own prices.
3. Separate rule from guidance: quote or paraphrase the requirement accurately, then label the practical question or planning suggestion.
4. Date the check: record when the source was reviewed and when it must be checked again.
5. Correct promptly: when a source changes or a reader reports a problem, verify against the responsible source, update the page and its record, or remove the unsupported claim.

Source priority: (1) Transport Canada and Government of Canada; (2) responsible aviation institutions; (3) official program and scholarship organizers; (4) official school, airline or employer pages for their own offers; (5) secondary sources only when needed for context.

What “verified” means here

A verified listing means the named program and the specific facts shown were found on an official page on the displayed date. It does not mean the organizer has endorsed Fieldbook or that the student qualifies. “Unknown” status means a current window could not be established; “upcoming” is used only when the organizer states a future opening.

Open records have a short review date. Once that date or a deadline passes, the site stops treating them as open until rechecked. Empty filters are honest: no current youth-relevant listing has yet been verified for some fields.

Report an error

A project contact address is being set up. Until then, no private student information, medical details or application documents should be submitted through this site. The correction process will publish a project email and record the source, claim, date and resolution for each report.
